Michoacán Section

All works from the state of Michoacán will be considered for either the Mexican Short Film, Documentary, or Feature Film Section and should follow the same enrollment guidelines.

Those films from Michoacán which do not participate in the aforementioned sections will be considered for the Michoacán section.

The winner of this section will automatically be eligible for the corresponding national competition.

The decisions of the selection committee are indisputable.

Each section shall have its own international jury conformed of renowned specialists, which will award prizes to the winners of each competition and award any special mentions it deems appropriate.



Mexican Documentary

All Mexican short or feature-length documentaries (any running time) completed in 2007-2008, whose final format is 35mm or DVCAM, and which have been neither distributed commercially nor submitted to previous editions of the Morelia International Film Festival are eligible.



Mexican Short Film Section

All Mexican short films completed in 2007-2008, with a maximum running time of 40 minutes, in the genres of fiction and animation, whose final format is 35mm or DVCAM, and which were not submitted to previous editions of the Morelia International Film Festival are eligible. Due to the guidelines of the Academy of Motion Picture Arts & Sciences, short films intended for promotional purposes, which have been presented on television, or distributed either commercially or through the internet will not be accepted.

Short films distributed on the internet through a restricted user code are eligible.



Mexican Feature Film

All Mexican features completed in 2007-2008, exclusively first or second films whose final format is 35mm and which have neither been commercially distributed, previously screened at any Mexican film festival, nor submitted to previous editions of the Morelia International Film Festival are eligible.



Michoacan Screenplay Contest 2008

The registered scripts must have 10 pages maximum, and must be written by Michoacan authors, or authors living within Michoacan State.
