Morelia International Film Festival

Morelia, is strategically located in the center of Mexico, with an international airport, and connected by modern highways. It is approximately 3.5 hours away from Mexico City and Guadalajara.

By airplane

Aeromar offers the best option with one or two daily flights and a package that includes hotel and flight at very reasonable rates.

There are also flights from Guadalajara, Querétaro and Tijuana by Aeroméxico. From the United States, Continental has a daily direct flight from Houston and there are also direct flights from Los Angeles, San Francisco, Oakland and San Jose.

You can rent a car at any of the agencies at Morelia's Francisco J. Mújica International Airport, which is 30 minutes from downtown Morelia on the new highway.

 

 

By car

Modern highways connect Morelia with Mexico City, Guadalajara and Ixtapa – Zihuatanejo. The highway from Mexico City goes through Toluca, Atlacomulco and Maravatio; the tolls are around 360 pesos. The highway from Guadalajara goes by La Barca, northeast of Lake Chapala; tolls run approximately 370 pesos.

The road Ruta 43 also connects Morelia with Guanajuato (2.5 hours) and San Miguel de Allende (3 hours).

There is a four-lane highway, Ruta 120, that connects Morelia with Pátzcuaro (40 minutes), Tzintzuntzan (45 minutes) and Santa Clara del Cobre (50 minutes).

By bus

If you travel from Mexico City, go to the Terminal Poniente Observatorio where you can buy your tickets to Morelia on La Línea, Autovías, Vía Plus, ETN, and Primera Plus lines, among others. Ask for direct service that goes along the Morelia highway. The trip takes around 4 hours and there are generally various buses leaving every hour.

If you come from Guadalajara you can use the same bus companies. The trip takes approximately 3.5 hours.

From Guanajuato, the best lines are Primera Plus and Servicios Coordinados which have several buses to Morelia every day.
