Tommy Lee Jones
(San Saba, Texas, 1946)
Director, producer, scriptwriter and actor, Tommy Lee Jones was born on September 15, 1946, in San Saba, Texas. He began his artistic career as an actor at St. Mark’s School of Texas and later graduated from Harvard in 1969 with a degree in English.
He landed his first film role in Love Story (1970). That same year he made his theatrical debut on Broadway in the play A Patriot of Me and was part of the cast for the TV soap opera One Life to Live until 1975. During this time he also participated in the famed TV series Charlie’s Angeles.
The actor, who has appeared in 43 films and 18 television programs, directed his first theatrical feature film The Three Burials of Melquiades Estrada in 2005. It was the official selection at Cannes and he won the Best Actor award for his performance in the film.
Among the awards Jones has received include an Oscar and Golden Globe in 1994 for The Fugitive and the San Diego Film Critics Society Award for Best Supporting Actor for No Country for Old Men ( 2007).
