We presented a retrospective of the renowned director Gus Van Sant, including Elephant, winner of the Palme d’Or at the 2003 Cannes Film Festival, Gerry, starring Matt Damon, and Mala Noche, Van Sant's first feature which has never been shown in México and which explores the theme of migration.

The Morelia International Film Festival had the honor of presenting director Manoel de Oliveira at a special screening of his first short film Douro, Faina Fluvial, which dates from the silent era, followed by his latest feature which premiered in Mexico, Um Filme Falado, starring Catherine Deneuve and John Malkovich.
