Image González Reyes; Everardo He studied directing and cinematography at the CCC film school and social communication at the Metropolitan Autonomous University (UAM), and he took a course in photography at the Active Photography School, Mexico City. He has mainly worked in production, cinematography and direction of documentaries. He has participated in the cinematography department of several films like Backyard / El traspatio (2009) by Carlos Carrera, for which he won the Ariel Award for Best Photography at the 52nd Ariel Awards, and La jaula de oro (2013) by Diego Quemada-Diez, among others. He has received grants from the Hubert Bals Fund of the International Film Festival Rotterdam (IFFR), Netherlands; the Jan Vrijman Fund of the International Documentary Film Festival Amsterdam (IDFA), Netherlands; and the Tribeca Film Institute. His work has been shown at numerous festivals at more than 40 countries, where he has received more than 30 awards. He is founding partner of the documentary production and distribution company Artegios. He has participated in four editions of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM). He received for his first feature film La canción del pulque (2003) a Jury Special Mention at the 1st FICM; the Mayahuel Award for Best Photography and Best Editing of a Mexican Feature Film at the 18th Guadalajara International Film Festival (FICG); and the Ariel for Best Feature Length Documentary at the 46th Ariel Awards, Mexico. He participated in the 5th FICM with his documentary feature Los ladrones viejos. Las leyendas del artegio (2007), which received, among other prizes, the Ariel Awards for Best Documentary and Best Editing at the 50th Ariel Awards; the Mayahuel for Best Mexican Feature Length Documentary at the 22nd FICG, Guadalajara; Best Feature Length Documentary at the 3rd Monterrey International Film Festival (FIC Monterrey); and a Special Mention for the “Unión Latina” award for Best Latin American Documentary at the 16th Biarritz Festival of Latin American Cinema and Cultures, France. At the 9th FICM he participated with his feature length documentary El cielo abierto (2011), winner of the Press Award at the 26th FICG; the Jury Award at the 4th International Film Festival on Human Rights in Mexico (DHFEST); and the José Rovirosa Award 2011 for Best Mexican Documentary. He participated in the 10th FICM with his documentary feature Cuates de Australia (2011), winner of the Ariel Award for Best Feature Length Documentary and Best Sound at the 55th Ariel Awards; Best Iberoamerican Documentary Feature Film at the 15th Buenos Aires International Independent Film Festival (BAFICI), Argentina; Best Mexican Documentary at the 27th FICG; and Best Jury Award at the 52nd Cartagena International Film Festival (FICCI), Colombia. The International Documentary Association (IDA), chose Cuates de Australia to promote his candidacy at the Academy Awards, The Oscars, for Best Documentary Feature in 2012. His documentary feature El paso (2015) was part of the Official Selection of the 13th FICM.
