Ana Cristina Barragán's HIEDRA Presented at the 23rd FICM

As part of the 23rd edition of the Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), director Ana Cristina Barragán and Mexican actress Karla Souza presented Hiedra at the Mariano Matamoros Theater.

The film tells the story of Azucena, who at age 31 decides to search for the son she abandoned after becoming pregnant at 13. Julio, her son, is now 18 and in his last year at the orphanage. The two of them seem to act as if they were the same age.

During the event, Karla Souza, the film's producer, told the audience that Hiedra is a co-production between Ecuador, Mexico, Spain, and France, showing that all countries can come together to tell human stories.

“I am very grateful to FICM for opening its doors to us. I have a special affection for Mexico because this is the third film I have made in collaboration with the country,” shared Ana Cristina Barragán, director of Hiedra.

They concluded by inviting the audience to enjoy the film that they both began working on seven years ago.
