“I Transform Through Film”: Juliette Binoche Discusses IN-I: IN MOTION at Press Conference

Juliette Binoche held a press conference during the 23rd Morelia International Film Festival (FICM), where she explained the process that led her to direct her first film, In-I: In Motion.

Before the conference, the French actress was joined by Daniela Michel, Founder and General Director of FICM; Alejandro Ramírez, President of the festival; and Cuauhtémoc Cárdenas, Vice President of the festival, to unveil the plaque honoring the winners of the last edition of FICM.

In 2007, Juliette Binoche and British choreographer Akram Khan embarked on a bold artistic experiment: “We created the show in six months and did about 120 performances in different venues. When we were in New York, Robert Redford looked me in the eye and said, ‘You have to make a film with this piece,’” Binoche said.

When asked about her relevance as an actress in contemporary cinema, the now also director said she is at the service of a story: “I transform through film, I feel very privileged to do what I do.”

The Blue (1993) actress returns to Morelia as a guest of honor eleven years after her first visit and will be presented with the Award for Artistic Excellence.
