Estudió la licenciatura en Comunicación en la Universidad Iberoamericana (UIA) y en Cinematografía en el Centro de Capacitación Cinematográfica (CCC), Ciudad de México. Participó en el 7° Festival Internacional de Cine de Morelia (FICM) con su cortometraje de ficción H (2008). Su ópera prima Aquí entre nos (2011) recorrió más de diez festivales alrededor del mundo; obtuvo, entre otros premios, el Zenith de Bronce por Mejor Ópera Prima en el 35° Festival des Films du Monde (FFM Montreal); el premio a Mejor Actor en el 26° Festival Internacional de Cine en Guadalajara (FICG); y el Mejor Largometraje, el Premio del Público y el premio de la prensa al Mejor Guión en el 37° Festival de Cine Iberoamericano de Huelva, España, entre otros.
