In a small provincial town, a few women who are actively involved in an ostentatious charity campaign, invent the Christmas slogan: Have a poor person at your table. Plácido, humble family man and truckdriver, is hired to drive his truck in the parade, but there´s a slight problem which prevents him from dedicating himself to the job: that same Christmas day, he misses the monthly payment on his truck and has not yet gathered all the money necessary to pay for it.

The Executioner

José Luis works at a funeral home and is thinking of immigrating to Germany to become a good mechanic. He is in love with Carmen, daughter of Amadeo, an ?administrator of justice? who seems to have a solution for everything. Amadeo surprises Carmen and José Luis in a compromising situation, and the couple is forced to get married. José Luis faces economic problems and must find an apartment to start a new homelife. Amadeo, on the verge of retiring, convinces José Luis to apply for the executioner post he is about leave, and which comes with the right to a home.
