The Departed

To cope with the chronic insomnia he has suffered since his return from Vietnam, Travis Bickle works as a night taxi driver in New York. Standoffish and mentally unstable, he spends his days at the movies and is besotted with a young volunteer for a political campaign. Obsessed with the ways in which violence, sleaze, and desolation rule the city, and harboring strong opinions about good and evil in humanity, he decides to take action.

Jesus, a young carpenter from Nazareth, attends the constant calling of God. He goes into the desert and gathers followers, spreading a doctrine of love and redemption. But he is filled with doubts: could the visions be products of his imagination? Is the price of fulfilling his mission too high? When the time for the supreme sacrifice comes, a supernatural manifestation shows him an alternative to his pain and suffering.

This intimate chronicle documents Harrison’s life as a member of The Beatles, his successful solo career, his trips to India and his quest to find a balance between the material and spiritual worlds.
