Image Resendiz Gómez, Alberto He studied graphic communication at the National School of Visual Art (ENAP, in Spanish) and filmmaking at the CUEC film school – both at the National Autonomous University of Mexico (UNAM). His short film Susurros de luz (2008) won a Special Mention at the 6th Morelia International Film Festival (FICM); Best Short Documentary at the 5th International Festival of Short Films “Relatos Cortos”; and Best Short Documentary at the 16th San Diego Latino Film Festival (SDLFF), among other awards. With Requiem para la eternidad (2011) he won Best Short Documentary at the 9th FICM; a Special Mention at the 1st UNAM International Film Festival (FICUNAM); and Best Documentary and Best Photography at the 6th International Documentary Film Festival of Mexico City DocsDF, among other prizes. Past and present weave a flurry of images; fragmented memories of this land. Ancient deities are incarnated, while dreams overlap among intimacy, complicity and the tumult. As a teenager, Ziuta weathered exile with fortitude and determination, saving her mother and other relatives from perishing in their flight. With a Super-8 camera that once belonged to his father and has remained untouched for 41 years, he plans to retrace the path of the shepherd: the journey of transhumance that his grandfather undertook in his youth, following now-forgotten coordinates.
