Screenings for the “50 Years of the Film Training Center: The First Female Filmmakers of the CCC” Program Begin

The 23rd Morelia International Film Festival (FICM) celebrates the 50th anniversary of the CCC Film Training Center with a film cycle dedicated to the institution's first female filmmakers.

Dinorath Ramírez, director of the CCC, kicked off the screening of the program’s first three films and talked about the importance the CCC has had on the education of Mexican female filmmakers.

The first part of the program starts with Monse (1978) by Gloria Ribe; Las Buenromero (1979) by Busi Cortés; and Nina (1989) by Ángeles Sánchez. These films were shot on 16mm and 35mm, and through the digitalization process, they underwent color correction and stabilization.

During the presentation, Dinorath Ramírez highlighted the importance of Busi Cortés in the education of female filmmakers: “All of us, women who make films in Mexico, should be grateful to her.” El Secreto de Romelia(1988) was Ramírez’s first film, and the first production in the CCC's history.

This film cycle features 20 films, which will be screened from November 28th to December 4th at Mexico City's National Film Archive.
